How time Flies

Here it is the middle January 2020.  It's hard to believe that we've lived up here a little over 1 1/2 years.  We sure love the sights and sounds of all four seasons, but we do get a little more snow than I expected. We see lots of wildlife out the window everyday.

Still making improvements to the house both inside and out.  Last summer we added a nice deck facing the lake and put on a small mudroom/porch next to the kitchen. It was a wonderful investment.  I have a few finishing touches to wrap up on the main level and then I'll be working on my makeover downstairs.

Most of our neighbors (all around the lake) are seasonal visitors from points south. We have a few  who are here year round. One family down he road had several children and the oldest has become my fishing insider for the lake.  He often stops by on his bicycle or his snowmobile for a quick visit.

We've been trying to get acquainted with all the local festivals and craft fairs.  There is something going on somewhere almost every weekend.   One weekend last fall we visited 3 events in the same day - all in different communities. Jaye have been busy mastering her stamping craft and will be setting up a table or booth at several events this.  You can find out about her crafts at Little Bear Stampin' Den on Facebook.

It's snowing as I write this, we are expected to get 1 - 3 inches. Just a little bit more than a dusting...... That's all for now.

Catching up

Well we,ve been here a little over two weeks.  I forgot how much hard work moving is.  Our last two homes were brand new, no previous owners - guess we were spoiled.  It not just the unpacking and deciding where to put stuff,  we are busy with some major redecorating. Here's how we have  spent our time:

  • New carpeting has been installed in the master bedroom, it was also painted
  • Existing carpet and carpet pad have been removed from the future craft room and its closets, room has bern painted, new flooring for me to install  is expected later this week
  • Finally purchased a lawn mower today and cut the grass this afternoon
  • The sunroom has been beautifully painted by Jaye, we can sit there and enjoy the lake view or watch tv
  • New dishwasher has been installed 😊
  • After over a week of debate with got setup with a 4G hotspot so we have Internet for our computers and tablets
  • Wallpaper has been stripped from one bathroom, it waiting for wall prep and paint
  • Wallpaper stripping is about 80% in bathroom #2
  • Tomorrow new flooring gets installed in the kitchen and 2 of the bathrooms, the toliet has been removed from both bathrooms - new fixtures will go in after the flooring is completed.
We have made several trips back to Fondy for appointments and trips to Milwaukee for hospital visits.

Boat hasn't gotten wet yet. I have done some casting from the dock.  I can see lots of bluegill right next to the dock, I did catch and release one large mouth bass.🎣

A busy first day

We put our plan together over a quick breakfast. The trailer got emptied and we headed for town.  The trailer was dropped off at U Haul and we headed for Home Depot. While they mixed up our paint we selected some flooring samples. Then it was  quick dash home to meet the installer for the satellite dish.  A few more boxes got unpacked and then Jaye started painting the sunroom while I expiremented with peeling off some wallpaper.   Bad news it was applied over unpainted drywall. Keep er movin... I pulled up some carpet in the closet of the future craft suite.  I found good flooring underneath it.   Started cutting up the carpet, removing the pad and then began the chore of pulling staples and removing the carpet tack strip. Is it Miller Time yet?

Dreams do come true

Back in the mid 1970s three high school  graduates sat around a campfire after a day of fishing and dreamed of living on lake in the Wisconsin Northwoods. Yesterday that dream came true for me.  Jaye and I pulled into the driveway of our northwoods dream last night about 7:30 PM. As I look out the window this morning with my first cup of coffee I think about the busy day ahead and the wonderful journey that that awaits.

Disappointed - we lost the deal on our new home up north.  Someone else got there first. The adventure continues . . .
